Meeting the Highest Standards

One advantage of working with SEMA Approved Members is the fact they can prove, by way of independent assessment, that their company and work will meet the highest standards.

The initiative was the first scheme for the industry and provides a measurable benchmark for our members. Becoming a member requires a high level of commitment to safety standards. Through the Membership Standard Assessment (MAS) assessment, the supplier must demonstrate their credentials by adhering to over 40 regulations, industry standards, Codes of Practice, and legislative requirements.

The audit drives standards and measures the company’s ability to meet customer requirements and deliver quality service. It covers legal and regulatory compliance which checks policies, insurance, internal record keeping, and training as well as evaluates a SEMA Approved Member’s management system, and the control of non-conforming products and services and assesses the member’s Health and Safety controls. Lastly, it will review how the SEMA Approved Member manages installers, their licenses, qualifications, training, and workmanship.

The MAS covers five key areas:

  • Meet SEMA’s standard
  • Have the correct legal and insurance documentation in place
  • Conform to Health and Safety requirements
  • Aim to reduce their environmental impact
  • Work towards the highest quality standards

There are two membership categories; SEMA Approved Member and SEMA Approved Member – Advanced. A company's membership status is awarded depending on the score they receive from the MAS audit and their commitment to SEMA initiatives such as SEIRS and SARI. SEMA Approved Members must also commit to using SEIRS qualified installers, Supervisors and Managers on their projects.  They must also use a SEMA Approved Rack Inspector (SARI) for racking inspections.
