SEIRS Foundation - Part 1

SEIRS Foundation

With many installers still learning 'on the job,' racking safety at the point of installation has become a major concern. Even well-designed and manufactured systems can be compromised without proper training, posing risks of collapse and harm to employees. For this reason, before allowing anyone to install racking, owners and managers should ensure installers have a SEIRS card. This begins with completing our SEIRS foundation course.

The SEIRS (Storage Equipment Installers Registration Scheme) Foundation course is a one-day classroom-based introductory course for new and existing installers who are not SEIRS qualified. It provides the basic skills needed when working within storage, addressing the generic and industry-specific Health and Safety issues that are likely to affect pallet-racking installations. It will also involve the practical use of safety harnesses.

Course Content

  • All health, safety, and welfare aspects that affect them and others during their daily work

  • Industry best practice

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

  • Understand the main provisions of a range of relevant Health and Safety legislation and accepted good practice.

Course Pre-Qualifications

The SEIRS Foundation course is the first level of qualification we have for installers. There are no pre-qualification requirements unless an installer requires a SEIRS CSCS card. In this case, the installer will need to pass the CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test which is conducted independently of SEIRS by the CITB at one of their test centres across the UK.

Please note: Delegates must be competent in English to complete this course.

What Happens After?

At the end of the course, the installer receives a SEIRS Trainee card valid for six months. This period enables individuals to develop and progress their on-site skills in the construction of adjustable pallet racking before progressing to the SEIRS Diploma level which will complete their SEIRS training programme.
