SEIRS Diploma - Part 2
SEIRS Diploma
Before allowing anyone to work racking in the warehouse, installers must have the correct skills and knowledge to install pallet racking according to industry standards. The SEIRS qualification offers five courses that build a solid foundation of industry-specific issues that cover Health & Safety, practical instruction on installing storage equipment and a methodical assessment process. To gain the full SEIRS qualification, installers must pass both the Foundation and Diploma courses.
The SEIRS Diploma level completes the installer's training. This intensive two-day course elevates installers to the next level with a blend of classroom theory and substantial practical training.
Day one starts with a classroom session to understand the theory behind installing pallet racking. By late morning all delegates head into the warehouse to begin the practical teaching elements. Working in two teams and guided by trainers they will learn how to correctly install and dismantle pallet racking.
Day two will require the delegates, working as part of a small team, to erect and dismantle the storage equipment using mechanically assisted build methods, together with a small amount of manual application. Delegates will be assessed throughout day two of the course.
Before any activity commences all delegates are briefed and directly involved to understand key elements that include:
- Site induction
- Permit to work
- Familiarisation of the work area
- Cordon off work area
- Method statement, risk assessment, site briefing
- MEWP Checks (using a very specific check list)
