General FAQs
SEMA is based in Burntwood, Staffordshire. The headquarters have both administrative and training facilities. There is a dedicated disabled parking bay at the front of the building and all training facilities are on the ground floor, which also includes a disabled toilet. SEMA is a limited company, managed by a team of representatives from within the industry. These representatives work or have worked in businesses well known throughout the racking and warehouse industry, and take the roles of giving direction in the way SEMA operates. You can’t. There is no such thing as a SEMA Approved Rack Inspection and claims to this effect are wrong. SEMA has a scheme whereby individuals can qualify as a SEMA Approved Racking Inspector (SARI). The SARI qualification is aimed at individuals who carry out the inspection of storage equipment by undertaking racking and storage systems inspections at end-users' premises. SARIs conduct racking and storage condition inspections, produce reports, and provide recommendations so that places of employment can operate in safe environments. To achieve the required standard, individuals must successfully pass an intensive three-day training course, written examination, and practical assessment. Once qualified, the inspector must also commit to a programme of ongoing CPD (Continuing Professional Development) to maintain the qualification. You can find a SARI via the SEMA website https://www.sema.org.uk/sema-services/find-sema-approved-rack-inspector/
