Find a SEMA Approved Racking Inspector Course

Are you looking to become a SEMA Approved Racking Inspector and would like to sign up for our course? Successfully pass our SEMA racking inspection course, and you will join a group of highly professional inspectors recognised across the industry for their high standards and professionalism.

SEMA Approved Racking Inspectors (SARI’s) are highly qualified professionals. Their day job is to complete the SEMA circle of quality by undertaking racking and storage systems inspections at end-users' premises. They conduct racking and storage condition inspections, produce reports, and provide recommendations so that all places of employment can operate in safe environments.

Who should attend this course?

The SARI qualification is aimed at individuals who carry out the inspection of storage equipment as a significant part of their duties.

To achieve the required standard, individuals must successfully pass an intensive three-day training course, written examination, and practical assessment. Once qualified, the inspector must also commit to a programme of ongoing CPD (Continuing Professional Development) to maintain the qualification.

Applicants should ideally be qualified to HNC/HND level in an engineering related subject and have two to three years related experience. We will consider applicants with higher-level qualifications and/or extensive industry-related experience based on their individual merits.

Applicants who are interested in attending this course must be fluent in English e.g. being able to understand both spoken and written English, and also be able to speak and write in English.

To apply for this course, each applicant must complete an Online Assessment (see below). This will assess the individual's current eligibility to attend.

The outcome of this online assessment should not be used as an indicator to the likelihood of success in the SARI course.

Course Duration

This is a three-day classroom-based course, starting at 9.00am and finishing at 5.00pm. This course culminates with a 1.5 hours written examination. The practical assessment will be held the following week.

The practical assessment consists of an actual inspection where the candidate will be observed and assessed on site procedures, inspection techniques, damage assessment, and reporting.

All candidates will be required to pass both the written examination and the practical assessment to gain the qualification.

Continuing Professional Development

The SEMA Approved Rack Inspector programme also integrates Continuous Professional Development (CPD), substantiating the qualification and demonstrating a commitment to both the user and the industry in line with SEMA’s policies of quality and professionalism.

Inspectors must maintain their qualifications by achieving a minimum of 40 CPD points annually. This is achieved in several ways, a main feature being, the undertaking of regular inspections as part of the Inspector’s daily tasks. Another main feature of the CPD programme is attendance at the annual SARI Seminar dedicated to SEMA Approved Rack Inspectors which is weighted heavily on the CPD points system.

We award each inspector a certificate for every successfully completed module of the SEMA Approved Inspector Qualification. Additionally, we issue an ID card annually, contingent on the inspector's commitment to the Continuous Professional Development programme to maintain their qualification.
